Prayer Support
2 Thessalonians 3:1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:
If Paul the Apostle needed prayer, what more people like us. Notice that Paul's request was that the word of the Lord would "have free course" and "be glorified". Paul knew as many current missionaries know first hand, that "except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it". At the end of the day, as full-time missionaries, without him, we can "do nothing". The need for prayer can not be overstated. living in a place infested with black and green mambas, Malaria, Typhoid, Bilharzia, and plenty of others, and has practically no medical care, is cause enough to necessitate prayer on our behalf. Unlike the USA this country is not exactly "geared" for forward movement, or rapid development. In fact, the traditional values held by the vast majority of people tend to inflict serious delays to "progress" in any dynamic. The prince of darkness is in not exactly in favor of us being here either. It is not without opposition that we do anything in terms of the ministry of the word. So in short, we are in constant peril physically, in a detrimentally slow to develop place, with all of the world, the flesh, and the devil bearing down hard against what we are doing on a daily basis. If you can not do anything else for our ministry, you CAN bring our ministry and family before the throne room of heaven and ask for mercy, power, protection, and provision on our behalf.

"Hands On" Support
Our take on getting involved with foreign missions is much bigger than only financial support. Obviously there is always an ongoing need for financial backing with any genuine work of God, and that is unlikely to change. However, the primary need of the field has always been and always will be "laborers". John 4:35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. The need for additional laborers is more real in Malawi than ever before. This is why we are very considerate when it comes the "structure" of the ministries which we have started on the field. There are capacities in which others might come for short-term, mid-term, or long-term service within the ministries which we have opened here. In a place like Malawi, there is a genuine need to "learn the ropes" of operating on a daily basis if you want to be effective in the long term. However, there are very few ropes you need to know to simply pass out gospel tracts, preach the gospel, or care about someones needs. We are inviting likeminded believers, who have servants hearts, and a calling to serve the Lord in missions work to consider coming to serve in one or more of the capacities which are available here within the ministries God has opened for us here. Acts 16:9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.

Specific Financial Support
While others may not have any specific designation for how their support is used, some may opt to direct their financial support towards the type of ministry which they are specifically burdened for. For example, there are those who are specifically burdened for helping relieve the physical conditions of impoverished people, while others are burdened to see pastors make their way through the Bible Institute. Certainly both of these are noble causes and both need to be done in the name of Christ here in Malawi. However, the way in which pastors of local churches need to be ministered to and the way that abandoned orphans need to be ministered to are quite different. In either case, whether someone allows us to minister more to orphans, build church structures, organize evangelistic efforts, or provide Bible Institute training to local church pastors, it all funnels back to the glory of God! Your support enables us to do more! Its that simple.
Support the Mzuzu Bible Institute directly . Due to the local economic situation in Malawi, our students pay less than 5 USD per credit hour earned through this Institute. This leaves the financial burden for office expenses, staff, and textbooks squarely on the shoulders of our monthly support. You can help supplement these needs by covering our actual cost of providing one student with one credit hour worth of Institute training. which is 25$/credit hour. |
The Lusangazi Mission Evangelism Ministry is a strategic method of evangelism custom fit for the Malawi context. As you can well imagine, these efforts include everything from putting fuel in the truck, to purchasing Bibles for distribution. If you would like to designate your support to go directly to soul winning efforts, this is a direct channel for that purpose. While our regular outreaches within our local area do not require special funding, your contribution to our annual "Stanley Burgan Evangelism" event would enable us move into the villages which are generally beyond our reach. We are hoping to raise 1000.usd for this trip before May 2018.

This is a mercy ministry which is dedicated to the physical relief of abandoned and orphaned children in Malawi. Because of the immediate context of the nature of this kind of ministry in Malawi, I personally approve every case and handle every expenditure myself. We take nothing for whatever is given through this ministry as personal support or of the support of any of the other ministries listed here. This is our opportunity to show people that we don't just know that we ought to be merciful...but rather it is the application of that mercy shown in a context which will be remembered in the lives of those who it affects for generations to come.
